BANGOR – After responding to a burglar alarm Monday night at a home on outer Ohio Street, police were surprised to get a call to respond to the house next door, police said.
“While they were there, a homeowner came home at literally the next house and saw a flashlight being used” in his home, police Lt. Tim Reid said Wednesday.
Police arrested Mark Lamarre, 19, of Bangor and charged him with burglary.
While at the scene, officers found two sets of footprints in the snow, indicating a second person was involved.
When visiting Lamarre’s home, police found a pile of stolen goods as well as a 16-year-old male, who was also arrested on a burglary charge.
“All of the items were recovered [and some] implicated them in several other burglaries,” Reid said. “We expect we’ll probably clean up eight to 10 residential burglaries in that area.”
Three laptops, a pistol and holder, two GigaBank flash drives, three video game systems and dozens of associated games, cameras, video recorders, a Sentry safe, jewelry, collectors’ coins and a BB gun were found at Lamarre’s Blue Hill East home.
Some of the items are known to be from an earlier Finson Road burglary, Reid said.
Lamarre was taken to Penobscot County Jail, where he remained Wednesday night. The juvenile was released to his mother.
Lamarre is scheduled to be in Penobscot County Superior Court on Jan. 12.
“He’ll definitely be charged with more counts,” Reid said.
Residential burglary is a Class B crime and can carry a penalty of up to 10 years in jail.
