“Surrounded by Art,” a sale of works by more than 85 artists in the Deer Isle Artists Association, will run through Dec. 23 at the DIAA Gallery in Deer Isle.
DIAA is a collective of artists with ties to Maine, where their work is shown primarily in the summer. The exhibit, which features pieces that cost from $25 to $10,000, is the membership organization’s first-ever holiday show and sale.
DIAA was founded in the 1970s as a juried artist co-op of New York artists. The organization now has more than 140 members nationally.
“We have 85 artists in the exhibit,” says Maureen Farr, a DIAA organizer. “We have works by many fine artists and craftspeople, and have items for every budget.”
Works in the nonjuried show include jewelry, ceramics, lamps, fibers, paintings, photography, prints and sculpture from both member and nonmember artists.
Hours are noon-5 p.m. Dec. 8-10, Dec. 14-17, Dec. 21-23. Artists will attend an open reception during gallery hours Saturday, Dec. 16. The DIAA Gallery is located at 13 Dow Road in Deer Isle.
