Unbeaten Mariners sail to 8th win Southern Maine, Bowdoin, UMaine-Farmington record victories

CASTINE – The Maine Maritime Academy women’s basketball team improved to 8-0 over the weekend with two victories.

On Saturday, Alyssa Burns pumped in 32 points on 11-for-12 shooting as the Mariners rolled past Elms 89-33 after beating Becker 71-42 Friday night.

Burns also had a game-high seven rebounds and seven steals. Kaitlyn Leeman added nine points, four assists and three steals while Julia Knights contributed five points, six assists, three blocks and five steals.

Jenn Payton paced Elms with eight points.

On Friday, Burns had 14 points, 11 rebounds, seven steals, and four assists as the Mariners earned the win.
