University of Maine senior defensive end Matt King finished sixth in the voting for the Buck Buchanan Award, presented yearly to Division I-AA’s top defensive player.

King, who earned 112 points and four first-place votes, finished the regular season second in the nation with 11.5 sacks. He added 18 tackles for a loss, tops in the Atlantic 10, and anchored a defense that ranked first in the nation in rush defense (63.91 ypg) and second in total defense (229.91 ypg).
