PRESQUE ISLE – Brandon Hall had 27 points, 10 rebounds and six assists to lead the Maine Maritime Academy men’s basketball team to a 97-94 overtime victory over Fisher College Sunday in the championship game of the Star City Classic.
This marked the second straight year these teams have met in the final, and the second straight year the final was decided in overtime. Fisher defeated MMA last year.
Tournament MVP Marc McCorrison added 25 points for MMA, while Adam Haskell had 16 points and nine rebounds, Derek DiFrederico scored 12 points and Jarod Oldham had 10.
Michael Newcombe led Fisher with 44 points, including 17 of 17 from the free-throw line.
Morrisville (N.Y.) State used 17 points from Dodrick Spencer and 12 each from Jamal Davis and Cesar Martinez to defeat the University of Maine at Presque Isle 69-50 in the consolation game.
Walker Mcintosh led UMPI with 15 points, while Mike Latchford scored 11 and Travis Hovey added 10.
Joining McCorrison on the all-tournament team were Newcombe and Stephen Rice of Fisher, Latchford of UMPI, DiFrederico of MMA and Spencer of Morrisville State.

UMFK, UMPI post wins
At Presque Isle, the University of Maine-Presque-Isle and University of Maine-Fort-Kent picked up wins in the Star City Tournament on Sunday.
UMFK defeated Fisher College 56-36, and UMPI defeated Morrisville 76-58.
In the first game, Ashley Ames scored 24 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead UMFK while Heather Hartman added nine points.
Aiyana Spencer paced Fisher with 18 points.
In the second game, Erica Davis poured in 33 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to lead UMPI by Morrisville. Julie Wescott had nine rebounds and Leah Joy notched six assists.
Stacey Hardnett paced Morrisville with 11 points.
