PORTLAND – Zenon Konopka netted the final scoring attempt of the shootout, lifting the Portland Pirates past the Springfield Falcons 5-4 Sunday in the American Hockey League.

Portland earned the victory despite allowing Springfield to come back from a 4-2 deficit in the third period and tie the game with one second left in regulation.

Pierre Parenteau scored two goals in regulation for Portland, while Eric Healey tallied two goals and added two assists for the Falcons (15-13-0-1).

The Pirates (16-8-1-3) took a 2-0 lead in the first period on goals by Petteri Wirtanen and Parenteau. Healey made it 2-1 late in the period, then tied it with his second goal of the night midway through the second.
