Warren sparks Bangor Brewer, Orono record victories

PORTLAND – Johnny Warren scored the game-winning goal 33 seconds into overtime to lift Bangor to a 3-2 Class A hockey victory over Cheverus of Portland on Saturday.

Matt Boehmer and Christian Dionne each netted a goal for Bangor. Jake Silver posted two assists while Alex Mooers had one. Andrew Riley made 30 saves on 32 shots for the 3-0 Rams.

Andrew Pochebit and Topher Pochebit each had a goal for Cheverus. Jason St. Hilaire stopped 24 of 27 shots for the 1-1-1 Stags.

JV: Bangor 2-0

Presque Isle 3, Old Town 1

At Orono, Ben McPherson and Brandon Daigle each had a goal and an assist as Presque Isle topped Old Town.

Sean Flanagan added a goal while Parker Hovey grabbed an assist. Ethan Hill made 23 saves on 24 shots for the Wildcats.

Craig Johnson scored for Old Town while Jason Trask made 21 saves on 24 shots for the Coyotes.

Brewer 12, Yarmouth 2

At Yarmouth, Devin Fitzpatrick, Dylan Fitzpatrick, Tyler Coombs and Prentiss Swett each netted two goals to power Brewer past Yarmouth.

Nick Risser, Marc Relford, Mike Kotredes and Thomas Jefferson each added a goal for Brewer. Devin Fitzpatrick grabbed two assists while Risser and Kotredes each had one. Aaron Saunders and Eric White combined to make 16 saves on 18 shots for the 3-0 Witches.

Jon Bubier scored two goals for Yarmouth while Keith Multon had an assist. Ethan Ray made 33 saves on 45 shots.

Orono 9, John Bapst 2

At Alfond Arena in Orono, Tony Raymond scored the game’s first goal 10 seconds in and the final with about a minute left and finished with three goals to lead the Red Riots.

Sean Babin chipped in with two goals and two assists for the 2-1-1 winners and Raymond added two assists. Chris McConnon notched a goal and assist while Chad Evinger, Ben Perry and Dustin Goudreau each recorded a goal. Jared Bussell and David Eugley combined for 23 saves.

Connor Scofield and Casey Hull each scored a goal for 2-2 John Bapst of Bangor and Nate Kuneman and Derek Duff combined for 28 saves.

Boys basketball

Bucksport 70, Foxcroft 46

At Bucksport, Todd Freeman had 22 points, eight steals, seven rebounds and three assists as the Golden Bucks earned their first win of the season.

Dom Kone added 11 points for Bucksport, while Derek Fish grabbed five rebounds and Chris Maguire dished out four assists.

Freshman point guard Josiah Richard paced Foxcroft with 15 points, while Ian Imbert scored 12 and Jason Gould added 11 for the Ponies.
