FORT FAIRFIELD – Alex Bird drained a foul line jumper with just over 30 seconds remaining to lift the Washburn Beavers to a key early-season road victory, 43-42 over the Fort Fairfield Tigers Monday.
Bird finished with six points while Kelsee McLaughlin led all scorers with 15 for the Beavers, including nine free throws. Erica McDougall chipped in with 11.
Kerri Cunningham paced the Fort Fairfield Tigers with 14 points.
