ROCKLAND – A former teacher’s aide was sentenced Wednesday to one year in jail after pleading no contest to gross sexual assault of a minor.

Amy Bramhall, 34, of Rockland had been charged with eight counts of gross sexual assault and eight counts of sexual abuse of a minor for engaging in a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old student. The other charges were dismissed.

Bramhall, who worked as an educational technician at SAD 40’s alternative school in Warren, was sentenced in Knox County Superior Court.

Judge Joyce Wheeler sentenced Bramhall to 3 1/2 years in prison with all but one year suspended and four years of probation. Wheeler also ordered her to register as a sex offender upon completion of her jail term.

Bramhall also pleaded guilty to furnishing alcohol to a minor and received a 90-day concurrent jail term, $500 fine and ordered to make restitution of $750.
