DEER ISLE – Two people were injured Thursday afternoon in a two-car accident on the South Deer Isle Road.

Philip Green, 54, of Otis was traveling north on the South Deer Isle Road (Route 15) near the intersection of the Sunset Cross Road at about 3:20 p.m. when his 1995 Ford crossed the center line and into the path of a 2000 Toyota driven by Paula Greatorex, 55, of Deer Isle, according to State Trooper Tom Pickering. The two cars collided nearly head-on.

Both Green and Greatorex complained of pain after the accident and were taken by ambulance to Blue Hill Memorial Hospital. There was no word on their condition, but their injuries were not considered serious.

Crews from Memorial Ambulance Corp. and Peninsula Ambulance Corps and the Deer Isle Fire Dept. also responded to the accident.
