You can help support the work of some very special people this holiday season when you make a contribution to the Hancock County Medical Mission.
Dr. Charles Hendricks will lead a group of medical missionaries, translators and students Feb. 10-24 to Ibarra, Ecuador.
Because supplies must be purchased and packed, donations must be received by Wednesday, Jan. 10, and can be sent to HCMM, P.O. Box 241, Ellsworth 04605.
Registered nurse Kathleen Cousins of Milford is one of those planning to take part in this mission, and she is hoping sponsors will help her cover the cost of the flight, which is approximately $1,175. Donations are tax-deductible.
You can write Cousins at 74 Bradley Road, Milford 04461, or call her at 827-2572 for more information.
Cousins explained in an e-mail that “any funds received, above the expenses, will be used to purchase medical supplies.”
Last year, she added, volunteers took more than 1,200 pounds of surgical equipment and supplies to Ecuador, which were left behind for use there.
Missionary volunteers “also purchase The New Testament, in Spanish, to give to the natives,” she wrote and, after morning devotions, the missionaries “start a 10-12-hour day providing medical, surgical and dental care.”
Hancock County Medical Mission is a member of Medical Ministry International. More information can be obtained by writing HCMM at the above address or visiting www.hcmm.homestead.com.

This has to be something of a first: Members of Bangor High School Class of 1962 are missing their class list!
Bruce Flagg is chairman of the BHS Class of ’62 45th Reunion planned for Aug. 11 at Penobscot Valley Country Club in Orono. He hopes to see lots of his classmates there.
However, Ellen Flagg reports, “We don’t have a list of alumni. No one even knows if one exists, so we’re trying to get the information out, any way we can. We even put it on classmates.com.”
Members of BHS ’62 or anyone who knows a member of that class and his or her address is asked to call Bruce Flagg’s office during regular business hours, speak with his secretary and provide her with the pertinent information.
To help BHS ’62 compile a new class list and to get more information about the reunion, call 945-9463.
