EDDINGTON – A single-car accident on Route 9 caused about 1,600 Bangor Hydro customers to lose power in Holden and Eddington around 7 p.m. Friday.

The utility pole was not severely damaged in the crash, but the guy wire at the base of the pole took the brunt of the impact that caused the outages, Bangor Hydro spokeswoman Jen Brooker said. Power was restored to all the affected homes and businesses within 45 minutes because the pole did not need to be replaced.

The driver of the vehicle suffered minor injuries in the crash, including pain in her arm. Her parents took her to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor for X-rays, according to Maine State Police.
