Hunter paces Raiders past Bulldogs Georges Valley, Calais boys cruise to victories

MACHIAS – Joey Hunter had 22 points, 22 rebounds, four assists, and three blocks to lead Washington Academy of East Machias to a 62-44 high school boys basketball win over Machias Friday night.

Jeff Ramsdell had 12 points, 11 rebounds, and four steals for the Raiders. Mike Von Rotz scored 11 points and Eric Leighton added 10 points.

Michael Little led the Bulldogs with 30 points.

At Northern Maine Forum in Presque Isle, Zoe Fisk scored on a Klayton Peckham assist 1:26 into overtime to lead Gardiner past Presque Isle.

Zack Montell scored two goals in the second period for the Tigers. Josh Wheelock and Peckham provided assists. Chris Howe stopped 17 of 19 shots.

Ben McPherson tied the score at 2-2 on a Dylan Collins assist 10:47 into the third period for the Wildcats. Collins scored in the second period on assists from Mark Carvell and Brennan Shaw. Ethan Hill made 21 saves on 24 shots.

Orono 11, Stearns 0

At Alfond Arena in Orono, Sean Babin scored four goals and assisted on two others to lead Orono.

Chris McConnon had three goals and two assists for the 3-1-1 Red Riots, and Tony Raymond added two goals and five assists. Darren Casey-Covell and T.J. Rafuse each scored a goal, and Jordan Dudley provided two assists. David Eugley stopped all 18 shots he faced.

Paul Rucci made 27 saves on 38 shots for the 1-3 Minutemen of Millinocket.
