Jason is an active 9-year-old who enjoys playing games and swimming. He has a great sense of humor and is quick to laugh at a funny joke or story. He likes to play outside and be active.
He has many animals at his current foster home, and he loves to take care of them, feed them and play with them when he can. He recently took a field trip to an animal rescue shelter with his school, and he remembers it well.
Jason likes school and does well there. He is good at trying his best, and he works hard to complete his work and do well. Jason really likes his art class in school and will often draw in his free time at school and at home. At recess, Jason can be found on the monkey bars, slide or playing 4-Square with friends. Jason enjoys reading every night before he goes to sleep. After school, Jason is involved in the Boy Scouts and has just begun to play basketball on the school team.
Jason does well with other children. He has a foster sister, and the relationship is mostly positive. The people who work closest with Jason say he would do well in a family with other children, both older and younger.
An adoption subsidy may be available to the most appropriate family. Jason is one of the 155 children currently in the state Department of Health and Human Services’ care who are seeking an adoptive family.
Based in Gardiner, A Family for ME is a nonprofit program that works in collaboration with Maine DHHS to find foster and adoptive families for Maine children in care.
