With the new year fast approaching, outdoors enthusiasts must again make plans to purchase a variety of licenses before they head afield to enjoy their favorite activities.

The state has made that process simple and is offering 2007 hunting and fishing licenses on the Internet through its popular MOSES system.

All state hunting and fishing licenses can be purchased on the Internet through the state Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife Web site (www.mefishwildlife.com) or through the MOSES portal (www.informe.org/moses/).

By purchasing a license on line, sportsmen and sportswomen will automatically qualify for a special drawing that will be held late in 2007.

The DIF&W will select one lucky online customer to receive a classic Rangeley boat. The drawing is a way for the state to thank customers for using the online system, and to encourage other customers to give it a try.

For more information about the boat giveaway, check www.maine.gov/ifw/licreg/rangeleyboatgiveaway.htm.
