OLD TOWN – A trailer and the two ATVs it was carrying were back in the hands of their owner Friday night, about five days after they were taken off the hitch of the local man’s pickup truck, attached to another truck, and driven off by at least two other men.

The trailer and its contents, which were stolen sometime Sunday night or Monday morning, were recovered on a back road in Levant by the owner, according to Sgt. Mike Hashey. The suspects had left the trailer in the road after they received word that police were after them. Hashey added that there was minimal damage to the ATVs and the trailer.

The owner did not intend to prosecute, despite the fact that police believed they knew who the perpetrators were, so they would not be pursuing the short-lived theft further, according to Hashey.
