BELFAST – A woman revived by city police on Christmas Eve died two days later.

Diane Marie Dawson Falina, 56, of Vine Street died Dec. 26 while receiving treatment at the Waldo County General Hospital intensive care unit.

She had been in declining health at the time city police rushed to her aid and revived her with a portable heart defibrillator on Sunday.

Chief Jeffrey Trafton said Sgt. John Gibbs and Patrolmen Brian Lunt and Ron Young would be commended for their Christmas Eve response to the woman’s home.

“It’s unfortunate that she passed away. I was very sad to hear that,” Gibbs said Thursday. “The guys did everything they could, and they did get her to the hospital.”
