CONCORD, N.H. – A man facing life in prison if convicted of a string of bank robberies has agreed to plead guilty in exchange for a shorter sentence.
Avery Blodgett and his brother, Travis Blodgett, were arrested in January at a home in Sweden, Maine. Authorities accused the brothers, who grew up in Concord, of stealing nearly $86,000 from banks in Bow, Loudon, Manchester, the Lakes Region and the Seacoast during a three-month period.
It’s not clear from plea documents signed last week whether Avery Blodgett will testify against his brother in exchange for the reduced sentence, but prosecutors have agreed to drop one of the gun charges against him. He also has the option of backing out on the deal if a judge decides to impose a longer sentence.
