Mokes, Mules prevail in Maine Event tourney

STANDISH – Chad Pulkkinen poured in 21 points to lead Saint Joseph’s College past Husson College 73-53 in the opening round of the Maine Event men’s college basketball tourney Friday.

Colby College of Waterville defeated Southern Maine of Gorham 78-59 in the earlier game.

Elbie Murphy netted 17 points and Marcus Alexander 11 for the winners.

Martin Cleveland paced Husson of Bangor with 19 points and Jason Harvey added 10.
