BANGOR – There will be no mail delivery Tuesday, Jan. 2, as the nation observes a day of mourning for former President Gerald R. Ford. Most federal offices also will be closed
State and municipal offices will be open that day and classes are expected to resume in schools throughout Maine after the Christmas break.
The U.S. District Court in Portland and Bangor will be open along with the U.S. attorney’s offices and the U.S. probation offices. Maine is the only federal court in the 1st Circuit that will be in session Tuesday.
Courts in New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Puerto Rico will be closed.
