A Veazie man arrested Saturday on an outstanding warrant is facing additional charges involving drugs.

Brian Caggiano, 24, was sought on a warrant for failure to pay fines relating to a theft charge, Veazie Police Chief Mark Leonard said Tuesday.

After arresting the man at his Chase Road home, police searched Caggiano’s bedroom and found hypodermic syringes, prescription drugs and other drug paraphernalia.

As a result, Caggiano was charged with possession of hypodermic apparatus. He is expected to appear Feb. 8 in 3rd District Court in Bangor .

Donald Everett, 34, was arrested Nov. 26 for assaulting the woman he lives with, according to Police Chief Mark Leonard. He was arraigned on the charge Dec. 28 at 3rd District Court in Bangor and ordered to have no contact with her.

When police went to Everett’s home at Graystone Trailer Park on Saturday to make sure he was complying with his bail conditions, they found that he was not and arrested him for violating his condition of release.

“We went there and she was in fact sleeping in Mr. Everett’s bed with him,” Leonard said. “[Everett] stated that he wasn’t just going to kick her out on the street.”

A woman staying in an OHI home on Highview Terrace in Veazie was arrested and charged with assault late Monday after she threw a hot cup of coffee on an OHI employee.

Heather Coolidge, 19, had been arrested three times after similar events in the recent past. She pleaded guilty just last Thursday to a previous charge of assaulting an employee at the home, Veazie police Sgt. Keith Emery said Tuesday.

Coolidge has been deemed “competent to know right from wrong by mental health officials,” Emery said.

The employee did not need medical attention, but her hand was red, irritated and mildly painful, according to the sergeant.

“There is a responsibility to take care of others in the home,” Emery said when explaining why Coolidge was arrested and charged yet again.

During a routine check of Godfrey Drive businesses shortly after midnight Tuesday, Orono police spotted a suspicious vehicle in a dark corner of a parking lot.

Orono police Officer Derek Dinsmore approached the green pickup truck and saw a man sitting inside.

Lane Melton III, 20, of Orono already had rolled down the truck window when Dinsmore approached, and the officer noticed the smell of burned marijuana, Orono Police Chief Gary Duquette said Tuesday.

When asked what he was doing, Melton told Dinsmore he was just hanging out and drinking a cup of coffee.

Dinsmore then asked how much marijuana Melton had in the truck, to which the man replied, “Not much.”

A search of the vehicle turned up a marijuana pipe that was “still warm,” according to the police report. Dinsmore also found a rolled-up plastic bag containing about 2 grams of marijuana.

Melton was summoned and is slated to appear at 3rd District Court in Bangor this month for possession of a usable amount of marijuana and of drug paraphernalia.

One man was summoned and another arrested on drug charges after their car was stopped on Interstate 95 in Orono around 5:30 p.m. Monday.

Orono police Officer Willy King responded to calls that a vehicle was being driven erratically on Stillwater Avenue. He followed the vehicle onto the interstate and watched it weave in and out of traffic. King stopped the car near the Kelly Road exit and asked the driver why he had been all over the road. He responded that he had been eating fast food while driving.

The officer administered a sobriety test to the driver, which he passed. During the stop, King found marijuana, about 15 Ecstasy pills and another scheduled drug which belonged to the passenger, Joshua Michaud, 29, of Bradley.

Michaud was arrested and charged with two counts of unlawful possession of a scheduled drug and one count of possession of a usable amount of marijuana. He was taken to Penobscot County Jail.
