BANGOR – The Curran Homestead, Orrington’s home and farm museum, will hold its annual meeting and recognition dinner at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10, at the Oriental Jade Restaurant. The public is invited to attend.

There is no cost for museum members, donors and honored guests. The cost for others if $15, $8 for children. Reservations for the dinner are required by Monday, Jan. 8, by calling Carroll Adams, 989-2430, or Irv Marsters, 945-9311.

The year marked the 16th year of the museum’s existence. There were many highlights of 2006:

. Carroll Adams of Brewer and Mim Hart of Hampden were elected honorary board members for their many years of service in helping to develop the living history museum at Fields Pond in Orrington.

. A salute to the horse Copper, a fixture at the homestead for 15 years, was held.

. Brothers and Boy Scouts Joey and Cody Morgan of Orrington Troop 44 completed Eagle Scout projects at the museum. Joey rebuilt a stone wall and Cody built a portable concession stand. Also, Boy Scout Aaron Prusaitis of Troop 8 in Bangor is building gates in the picket fence for his Eagle Scout project.

. Twenty employees from the Bangor Home Depot painted the picket fence.

. Master Gardener Theresa England, members of Girl Scout Troop 288 and Scout leader Michelle Carlson planted, watered, weeded and harvested the crop.

. Leigh and Will Rogers of Brewer donated an early 1900s Farmall tractor to the museum. Jim Leighton put the old tractor in good running condition.
