Bad girls abound in two reality series on Oxygen

Since when does reality television have to be so repulsive?

“The Bad Girls Club,” a new reality series that began last month on Oxygen, is even more over-the-top drama than I can handle.

The idea, brought to life by the producers of “The Real World,” is for seven “bad girls” to live together in a house.

These aren’t the kind of girls who occasionally take an extra 15 minutes for lunch or borrow a roommate’s sweater without asking – they will lie, cheat, steal and flirt their way out of things they don’t want to do and to get what they want.

They’re the girls you didn’t like in high school, the ones you chose not to associate with in college and the ones you continue to avoid at work.

So why give them their own TV show? The ultimate goal is to get them to change their ways by living with women who are just like them.

Peaceful moments are rare and temper tantrums are frequent, so if you’re going to tune in, make sure you’re ready for some drama-filled tube time.

Speaking of strong women, Oxygen has more than just seven bad girls.

At 50 years old, Janice Dickinson is one of the toughest, most with-it career women you’ll meet. And even though she also likes to kick and scream to get what she wants, at least she has a motive.

Dickinson’s new show follows the fashion queen as she works to open her own modeling agency and balance her family life of being a single mom.

Although she brings a little too much emotion to the table for me at times, it’s hard to stop watching once you’ve tuned in.

As a teenager, Dickinson blazed her own trail in the modeling world and has graced the covers of Elle, Vogue and Cosmopolitan. She has also made appearances in the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue and Playboy.

In short, she’s swaggered on nearly every meaningful catwalk wearing top designer fashions and she knows her stuff.
