COLLEGE

Teddy Purcell

University of Maine men’s ice hockey freshman forward Teddy Purcell was named the Hockey East Superskills Hockey Rookie of the Week. Purcell scored four goals, twice in each game, and added an assist as the Black Bears swept UMass Lowell.

Shelley Gott-Stilwell

Shelley Gott-Stilwell, a senior at Maine Maritime Academy, has been named the North Atlantic Conference Player of the Week. Gott-Stilwell averaged 18.7 points and 8.6 rebounds in the Lady Mariners 3-0 week. She was named the MVP of the Keene State Holiday Tournament after helping MMA beat the host school in double overtime.

Darrell Alexander

Thomas College guard Darrell Alexander was named the North Atlantic Conference Rookie of the Week. In two losses, Alexander averaged 22.5 points, seven rebounds and three assists. He shot 50 percent from the floor in an overtime loss to Mitchell college and finished with 29 points and nine boards.

Eileen Flaherty

Bowdoin senior Eileen Flaherty has been named the NESCAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week. Flaherty earned MVP honors at the Springfield/Naismith Classic, averaging 17 points and seven rbounds in wins over Union and previously-unbeaten Norwich.

Greg Osborne

Colby College senior Greg Osbornse has been named the NESCAC Men’s Hockey Player of the Week. Osborne scored six goals and three assists in a 2-1 week for the White Mules. Curry had three goals and one assists in a win over Curry College and the lone goal in a 2-1 loss to New England College. He finished the week with two goals and two assists in a 7-3 win at Saint Anslem College.

April Allen

UMaine-Fort Kent senior forward April Allen has been named the Sunrise Conference Player of the Week. Allen averaged 11 points in two games for the Bengals.

Jimmy Lopez

Jimmy Lopez of UMaine-Fort Kent was named the Sunrise Conference co-Rookie of the Week. Lopez scored a career-high 28 points and added five assists in a win over UM-Presque Isle.

Ashley Marble

University of Southern Maine senior forward Ashley Marble has been named the Little East Conference and Maine Women’s Basketball Coaches Association Player of the Week. Marble averaged 24 points and 15.7 rebounds in three wins for the Huskies. She scored a career-high 30 points and grabbed a career-best 19 rebounds in a 60-57 come from behind win over Western Connecticut.

Shelby Pickering

Husson’s Shelby Pickering has been named the Maine Women’s Basketball Coaches Association Rookie of the Week. Pickering posted consecutive double-doubles in a loss to Keene and a win over Pine Manor. She tallied 25 points, 25 rebounds and seven steals for the Eagles.
