Farrell scores 35, Colby tops MMA

WATERVILLE – Nick Farrell scored a career-high 35 points with nine 3-pointers Tuesday night to lead Colby College to a 73-56 men’s basketball victory over Maine Maritime Academy of Castine.

Drew Cohen added 11 points, five rebounds and three assists for the White Mules.

Brandon Hall notched 23 points and 10 rebounds and Marc McCorrison had 13 points and four assists for the Mariners.

Troy Gabriele and Drew Coppenrath paced the Huskies of Gorham with 15 points each. Coppenrath added 15 rebounds and Nick Gooding tallied 10 points.

At Providence, R.I., Ashley Marble poured in 22 points and pulled down 11 rebounds as Southern Maine downed Rhode Island College.

With the victory, Southern Maine head coach Gary Fifield reaches the 500-win plateau and takes over as the all-time percentage leader for Div. III women’s basketball coaches with a 500-80 career record.

Stacey Kent chipped in with 14 points for the Huskies.

Tyla Martin led Rhode Island College with 19 points, Josalee Danieli added 16 and Kari Geisler finished with 15.
