BOYS

Big School (Classes A-B)

TRAVIS SPENCER

A member of the Belfast wrestling team, Spencer won the 189-pound weight class at the Sanford Redskin Invitational last weekend with a 4-0 decision over Joe LaDuca of Danbury, Conn., in the championship match. That came just one week after Spencer was named most outstanding wrestler at the Noble Invitational tournament, where he also won the 189-pound title.

Small School (Classes C-D)

JORDAN GUY

Guy, a senior guard for the Hodgdon basketball team, averaged 29 points, seven rebounds, five assists, four steals and four blocked shots in a pair of games for the Hawks. Guy also made 10 of 16 shots from beyond the 3-point arc as Hodgdon defeated Washburn in overtime and dropped a one-point decision to Houlton.

GIRLS

Big School (Classes A-B)

HILARY LAFERRIERE

A 5-foot-11 junior center for the John Bapst basketball team, Laferriere averaged 17.3 points per game in wins over previously undefeated MDI, Hermon, and defending Class B state champ Presque Isle. Laferriere’s high for the week, 22 points, came in a 50-44 victory over the Wildcats Saturday in which she also had a game-high 13 rebounds.

Small School (Classes C-D)

MORGAN CHASSE

Chasse, a sophomore guard for the Bangor Christian girls basketball team, scored nine of her 14 points in the fourth quarter as the Eastern Maine Class D Patriots beat EM Class C Penobscot Valley 49-48 Thursday. Bangor Christian, now 4-3, moved from 12th in the Heal point standings before the win to fifth this week.
