Poker Run for charity

The eighth annual Poker Run to benefit the Pine Tree Camp for Maine children and adults with disabilities will take place Saturday, Jan. 20, with check-in time from 8 a.m. to noon at any one of the five sponsoring clubs in Carmel, Glenburn, Hampden, Hermon and Levant.

Runs may be made by snowmobile or by other vehicle.

The cost of the event is $5 per hand with no limit on hands purchased. Each club will sponsor its own breakfast, lunch or supper activities. Door prizes will be awarded.

Pine Tree Camp receives 100 percent of net Poker Run proceeds.

Maine Basketball Festival

BANGOR – The Bangor Y is accepting registrations for the Maine Basketball Festival tournament for recreation, travel or school teams.

The schedule is:

. Third- and fourth-grade boys, Friday through Sunday, March 9, 10 and 11.

. Third- and fourth-grade girls, Friday through Sunday, March 16, 17 and 18.

. Sixth-grade and under boys, Friday through Sunday, March 9, 10 and 11.

. Sixth-grade and under girls, Friday through Sunday, March 16,17 and 18.

. Eighth-grade and under girls, Friday through Sunday, March 23, 24 and 25.

. Eighth-grade and under boys, Friday through Sunday, March 2, 3 and 4.

Orono Hoop Classic

ORONO – The Orono Parks and Recreation is accepting registrations for its 2007 Orono Hoop Classic. The classic is open to teams of fifth- and sixth-graders.

No AAU teams will be accepted. The classic will be held the weekend of March 2-4. All teams are guaranteed four games and all players will receive a gift for participating.

The fee is $150 per team or $290 for two teams – one boys team and one girls team. For more information, call the rec office at 866-5065.
