Contributions sought for Bunker’s training

Bucksport running standout Mike Bunker is training at the Zap Elite Training Center and Mountain Retreat in Blowing Rock, N.C., with a goal of qualifying for the Olympics.

Bunker, a national qualifier in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and 5K run, is seeking contributions from business or individuals to help support his training. The Zap Elite Training Center is for post-collegiate runners and those runners with Olympic aspirations.

Bunker, a consistent winner in several Maine road races, is a 2006 graduate of the University of Southern Maine where he majored in exercise physiology.

At USM Bunker was a Little East Conference champ in the 3K and 5K. He was also an ECAC 3K steeplechase champ and a national qualifier in the 3K steeplechase and 5K race.

Those wishing to make contributions to Bunker may contact him at: Mike Bunker, Zap Fitness, 9560 Blackberry Road, Lenoir, N.C., 28645.
