Hull key as Crusaders cruise to win

HOULTON – Casey Hull tallied two goals and an assist to lead John Bapst of Bangor past Houlton/Hodgdon 4-1 in high school hockey action Thursday at Millar Arena.

Ethan Sale recorded a goal and an assist and Matt Swift added a goal for the Crusaders. Chase Huckestein contributed an assist and Derek Duff stopped 30 of 31 shots.

Craig Buxton netted the lone goal for the Black Hawks. Chris Howland and Morgan Hall each assisted on the goal and Curtis Libby made nine saves on 13 shots.

Winslow 3, Brewer 2

At Sukee Arena in Winslow, Charlie Kriegal’s screened slap shot with 6:30 remaining gave undefeated and untied Winslow its ninth win.

Andy Wheeler had a goal and an assist for the Raiders and Jeff Brown had the other goal. Ben Grant and Sean Bourgeois assisted on Kriegal’s game-winner and Kevin McCabe also had an assist earlier. Ryan Cormer made 20 saves.

Reid McLaughlin had a goal and an assist for 8-2 Brewer. John Ambrose had the other goal and Dave Perry picked up an assist. Kayla Dunn finished with 19 saves.

Orono 8, Old Town 0

At Alfond Arena in Orono, Chris McConnon scored two goals to lead the Orono Red Riots past the Coyotes.

Tony Raymond had a goal and three assists while Brandon Paul added a goal and two assists for the 8-1-1 Riots. Dan Ohno, Chad Evinger, Sean Babin and Nathan Curtis each scored one goal. David Engley saved all 23 shots he faced for the shutout.

The 4-7 Coyotes, Jason Trask and Dan LeBreton combined to make 32 saves on 40 shots.

Boys basketball

Dexter 57, Penobscot Valley 39

At Dexter, Steve Robinson poured in 21 points to go with six rebounds as Dexter handled Penobscot Valley of Howland for the win.

Gavin Cote tallied 18 points and eight rebounds and Aaron Woodman netted 10 points for the Tigers.

Chad Trappier notched 16 points for the Howlers.
