An 85-year-old man working on a 1993 pickup truck Saturday at his home on U.S. Route 2 in Etna was struck and pushed against a wall by the vehicle when the accelerator apparently got stuck, Maine State Police said.

The accident occurred just after noon.

After pinning Walter Brown for a moment, the truck dislodged and continued moving forward, striking a tree, state police Trooper Scott Hamilton said Sunday.

Brown was unconscious and bleeding from the elbow when family members got to him. He was taken to Sebasticook Valley Hospital in Pittsfield and by Sunday had been discharged, according to hospital personnel.

After stopping a Plymouth Voyager minivan late Friday night on Thirteenth Street, Bangor police Officer Steve Jordan said he noticed that the female driver was attempting to conceal something under her seat.

During the traffic stop, Jordan discovered that the driver, Carrie Foltz, 37, of Glenburn, was out on bail and that conditions of her bail prohibited her from possessing alcohol or drugs.

Foltz was found in possession of marijuana and beer and arrested for violating conditions of her release, police said. She was taken to Penobscot County Jail, where she remained Sunday.

She is scheduled to appear in 3rd District Court in Bangor on Feb. 15.

After being asked several times Saturday afternoon to leave Acadia Recovery Community on Indiana Avenue in Bangor, John Toolin, 49, a transient, was arrested on charges of criminal trespassing and disorderly conduct and for violating the conditions of bail from a previous incident, police said.

Toolin was taken to Penobscot County Jail, where he remained Sunday. He is scheduled to appear in 3rd District Court in Bangor on Feb. 15.

While escorting a state employee who was delivering official paperwork to a resident of a local motel late Friday night, Brewer police Officer Tony Pinet recognized one of the people in the room as a person who was on bail for a prior offense, police said.

Bangor resident James Pelkey, 37, was in the room with visible alcohol, a violation of the conditions of his release, which prohibited him from possessing alcohol or drugs, police said.

A search of the room discovered a small amount of cocaine, police said.

Pelkey was arrested on a charge of possession of a Schedule W drug and for violating conditions of his release. He was taken to Penobscot County Jail, where he remained Sunday afternoon. He is scheduled to appear in 3rd District Court in Bangor on March 15.

After registering as a sex offender in November 2005, Robert Cosgro, 55, was required to reregister every 90 days but failed to do so, according to Millinocket police.

Detective Ron McCarthy found Cosgro on Saturday morning and summoned him for failure to register, which is a misdemeanor, police said.

Cosgro is scheduled to appear in Millinocket District Court on March 7.
