EAST MACHIAS – Senior Ashley Tilton scored her 1,000th career point in the first quarter Saturday to help lift Washington Academy to a 59-45 girls basketball victory over Lee Academy at Gardner Gymnasium.

Tilton finished with 14 points and four steals while becoming the first girls basketball player at Washington Academy with 1,000 career points.

Megan Look scored 20 points and 10 rebounds for the Raiders and Kayla Wood added nine points, four assists, and three steals.

Aarika Ritchie led the Pandas with 18 points and eight rebounds and Dana Houghton had 11 points.

Ethan Chase scored a goal off assists from D.J. Duplissis and Mike Mourkas with 10:24 left in regulation to tie the score for the 1-9 Crusaders. Matt Albert stopped 28 of 29 shots.

Cory Palmer scored just 1:13 into the game on a Michael Brennan assist for the 6-2 Black Bears. Kyle Vorpagel made 23 saves on 25 shots.

Justin Pelkey had a goal and an assist for the 2-5 Minutemen and Jake Emery scored. Nate Cyr provided an assist as Paul Rucci stopped 23 of 27 shots.
