Mount Desert Island High volleyball standout Mariah Grover was named Gatorade’s Maine Volleyball Player of the Year.

Grover, a 6-foot-2 junior, posted 140 kills and 70 blocks in 17 matches for the Trojans, leading them to the state championship match.

The Gatorade Player of the Year program recognizes one winner from each of the 50 states and the District of Columbia.
