Penobscot Reads program continues

Penobscot Reads continues through the month of January at area libraries with Gerard Robichaud’s novel, “Papa Martel,” as its focus. Activities include:

BANGOR PUBLIC LIBRARY

. Discussion of “Papa Martel” with Marge Irvine, English professor, 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 18.

. “Lumbering in Maine,” with Bill Cook, special collections librarian Bangor Public Library, noon Friday, Jan. 19.

. “Ployes around the Piano,” children’s introduction to Acadian music with Joel Morneault at the piano, and buckwheat pancakes, 9 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 20.

. “Fathers and Daughters the Franco-American Way,” with author and artist Rhea Cote Robbins, 6:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 22.

. “Parlons Francais,” with Gisele Theirault, Bangor High French Department, 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 23.
