FARMINGTON – Kari Simpson of Wells scored 20 points to lead the University of Maine-Farmington women’s basketball team to a 55-54 overtime win over Castleton State Friday night.

Simpson’s layup with 15 seconds left in overtime off a feed from Augusta native Karen Sirois was the difference.

Freshman Caitlyn Laflin of Farmingdale scored 14 to pace the 10-3 Beavers.

Carley Amedore led Castleton with 17 and LeeAnne Ketchen added 10.

Wesleyan 60, Colby 43

At Middletown, Conn., Wesleyan took a 21-18 lead in the first half and then went on an 8-0 scoring run en route to its 11th victory.

Ali Fourney paced the winners with 16 points and Emilie Knight added 10.

Robert Kelly scored 15 points to lead Wesleyan.

At Brunswick, the Polar Bears shot 73 percent from the field (16-for-22) in the second half while pulling away for the NESCAC victory.
