FARMINGTON – Kari Simpson of Wells scored 20 points to lead the University of Maine-Farmington women’s basketball team to a 55-54 overtime win over Castleton State Friday night.

Simpson’s layup with 15 seconds left in overtime off a feed from Augusta native Karen Sirois was the difference.

Freshman Caitlyn Laflin of Farmingdale scored 14 to pace the 10-3 Beavers.

Carley Amedore led Castleton with 17 and LeeAnne Ketchen added 10.

Wesleyan 60, Colby 43

At Middletown, Conn., Wesleyan took a 21-18 lead in the first half and then went on an 8-0 scoring run en route to its 11th victory.

Ali Fourney paced the winners with 16 points and Emilie Knight added 10.

Alison Cappelloni led Colby with eight points and Tracy Nale added seven.

At New London, Conn., Eileen Flaherty scored a game-high 23 points as the top-ranked Polar Bears rebounded from their first loss of the season.

Jill Anelauskus contributed 14 points for Bowdoin of Brunswick, and Leah Rubega posted 10 rebounds.

Jacquelyn DeFeo led the Camels with eight points.

At Waterville, Nick Farrell finished with 26 points, five rebounds and five steals to pace Colby to victory over Wesleyan University.

Adam Choice and Jon Bandi each added 12 points while Drew Cohen chipped in with 11 for the Mules.

Robert Kelly scored 15 points to lead Wesleyan.

At Farmington, Sean Fry of Jay scored 20 points and grabbed 18 rebounds to lead the University of Maine-Farmington past Castleton State College.

Josh Tanguay of Gorham added 12 points and 12 rebounds for the 6-8 UMF Beavers.

Josh Howe led Castleton with 19.

Bowdoin 74, Conn. College 46

At Brunswick, the Polar Bears shot 73 percent from the field (16-for-22) in the second half while pulling away for the NESCAC victory.

Kevin Bradley paced Bowdoin with 15 points, while Andrew Hippert and Jordan Fliegel tossed in 13 points each.

Jeff Young led Connecticut College with 12 points.
