ORONO – The University of Maine football club had two of its players honored while also securing one award of its own after its first season of competitive play in the Northeast Independent Football League.

Quarterback Brett Davison of Wrentham, Mass., was named NIFL offensive player of the year and the UMaine club was picked as the league’s team of the year. Free safety Kevin Williams of Pittsfield was picked for the Class A semi-pro defensive All-America team. The NIFL was voted best new semi-pro league of the year by Minor League Football News.
