BELFAST – It’s carnival time for a good part of the world and that means time for samba.

Lisa Newcomb of the Belfast Dance Studio will be teaching samba dance to the lively beat played by percussionist Jeffrey Densmore and friends. The four-week session runs Feb. 1-March 1, with no class on Feb. 22. It is part of the Ethnic Dance series held at the studio 6-7:30 p.m. Thursdays. All ages and abilities are welcome. No dance experience is required.

Also on tap are ballroom dance classes for preteens beginning Jan. 30. Classes will be held 4-5 p.m. Tuesdays for children in grades five through eight. Courtney Porter will begin with the classics: swing and fox trot.

For cost information and preregistration, call the Belfast Dance Studio at 338-5380 or visit the studio at 109 High St.
