McAllian, Gallant pace Rams to win over Warriors

BANGOR – Jon McAllian and Alex Gallant each scored eight points in the second quarter as the Bangor Rams pulled away for a 72-48 boys basketball victory over Nokomis at Red Barry Gym on Thursday night.

Lee Suvlu finished with a team-high 14 points for Bangor, while McAllian and Gallant added 11 points each.

Dylan Palmer led the Warriors of Newport with 16 points, and Jordan Woolridge added 11.

At Sawyer Arena in Bangor, Casey Hull had four goals and three assists and Connor Scofield had three goals and three assists as John Bapst topped Oak Hill-Lisbon.

Hull and Scofield each had two goals and two assists in the first period alone as the 9-4 Crusaders built a 4-0 lead.

Chase Huckestein added a goal for John Bapst, while Ryan Hayes contributed an assist. Goalie Nate Kuneman made 11 saves on 13 shots.

Tyler Pomerleau led 1-8 Oak Hill-Lisbon with a goal and an assist, while Nate Laplante added a goal and Nate Lavoie had an assist. Cam Blouin made 25 saves on 33 shots.

Hoult.-Hodgdon 13, Old Town 4

At Millar Arena in Houlton, Chris McGuire scored three goals and assisted on two others to lead Houlton-Hodgdon over Old Town.

Chris Howland also had a hat trick with three goals and an assist for the 7-5 Black Hawks. Sharif Abouleish had two goals and four assists, and Jordan Gard added a goal and three assists. Eben Thompson recorded a goal and an assist as Elliot Mooers, Jared Tapley, and Taylor Martin each scored. Curtis Libby made 15 saves on 19 shots.

Jason Smith and Gary Johnson both had a goal and an assist for the 4-8 Coyotes. Tyler Dufour and Tyler Vandez added goals as Dan LeBreton and Jason Trask combined to stop 25 of 38 shots.

Girls basketball

At Newport, Kelley Paradis netted 19 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead Nokomis past Bangor.

Teresa Cooper added 11 points while Noelle Lincoln chipped in with 10 for the Warriors.

Amy Hackett tallied 15 points to pace the Rams.
