DeWitt leads Eagles by Bapst

ELLSWORTH – Corey DeWitt poured in 32 points Saturday as Ellsworth held off John Bapst of Bangor for a 70-68 boys basketball victory, the Eagles’ 10th of the season.

Chris Archer added 12 points and James Doe tallied 11 points and 11 rebounds. Dem Katsiaficas contributed 10 points for the Eagles.

Aaron Healey led the way for the Crusaders with 19 points and Kyle Gallant added 13. Charlie Merritt chipped in with 11.

Nick George notched a goal and an assist, and Jon Hyatt and Steve Seccareccia netted a goal each. Alex Mooers added two assists and Andrew Riley made 21 saves on 22 shots for the 8-4-1 Rams.

Josh Mitchell scored the goal for the 6-6-1 Bulldogs. Chris Caron stopped 26 of 31 shots.

At T.J. Ryan Center, Brewer, Sean Babin netted four goals as Orono held off Brewer.

Tony Raymond tallied two goals and three assists and Chris McConnon chipped in with a goal and two assists for the 11-2-1 Red Riots. Jared Buzzell recorded 31 saves on 35 shots.

Reid McLaughlin scored two goals and Prentiss Swett had two assists for the 11-3 Witches. Nick Risser and Dylan Fitzpatrick tallied a goal and an assist each, while Aaron Saunders and Kayla Dunn combined to stop 22 of 29 shots.

At Presque Isle, Brandon Daigle tallied four goals and two assists as Presque Isle cruised by Foxcroft Academy.

Spencer Deschene and Greg Cyr each posted two goals and an assist for Presque Isle. Jason Martin, Ben McPherson and Brennan Shaw each added a goal. Ethan Hill made 13 saves on 14 shots for the 8-4-1 Wildcats.
