Eagles tip MMA for 13th victory; Fry sparks UMF

BANGOR – Jason Harvey and Martin Cleveland each scored 15 points Saturday to help the Husson College Eagles edge the Maine Maritime Academy Mariners 64-61 in men’s basketball action.

Tyler Muzzy added 13 points while Brock Bradford tossed in 11 for the Eagles.

Derek DiFrederico paced MMA of Castine with 18 points while Brandon Hall had 17. Marc McCorrison added 12.

At Waterville Saturday, the University of Maine Farmington held Thomas College to just 15 points in the second half as the Beavers cruised to the win.

Sean Fry scored a game-high 25 points and Matt St. John added 22 for UM-Farmington.

Reggie Jett led the Terriers with 12 points and four rebounds.

UM-Fort Kent splits

The University of Maine-Fort fell 77-72 at the University of Maine-Machias on Saturday, then had five players score in double figures in a 105-78 home win over University of Maine Augusta on Sunday.

In Saturday’s game, Charlie Calligan tossed in 18 points and David Butler added 15 points and 14 rebounds as the Clippers held off a late Bengal rally for the win.

Will Hammond and Adam Mauro each tossed in 11 points for UM-Machias.

Hamill Bassue led the way with 19 points and eight rebounds, and Jimmy Lopez added 16 points for the Bengals. Edmundas Akstinas chipped in 10 points.

In Sunday’s game, Bassue recorded 23 points and 12 rebounds, and Lopez added 22 points as the Bengals cruised.

Jay Myers came off the bench to score 16 points, Akstinas had 15 points and Yair Gal added 13.

Deon Cheers and Tyler Norris paced the Moose with 22 and 18 points, respectively. Jonathan Hill scored 12 and Eric Sobey notched 11.
