MMA rallies to win Strong 2nd half stops Husson

BANGOR – The Maine Maritime Academy Mariners wiped out a 17-point halftime deficit en route to a 56-46 women’s basketball victory over the Husson College Eagles Saturday.

Alyssa Burns sparked MMA of Castine with 16 points and six rebounds. Megan Franklin posted 10 points, while Julia Knights added nine points and eight rebounds.

Crystal Martin paced Husson with 14 points and Annie McIntosh added 11.

UM-Presque Isle wins two

The University of Maine-Presque Isle won two road games over the weekend, holding off Russell Sage 70-64 Saturday at Troy, N.Y., and thumping Unity College 93-47.

In Saturday’s game, Erica Davis recorded 23 points, 15 rebounds and five steals to lead the Owls.

Ashley Brooker and Michelle Phillips each notched 11 points for the winners.

Ashli Fragomeni netted 19 points and Ashley Wetherell added 18 for Russell Sage.

In Sunday’s game, Davis poured in 29 points and Anna Lenentine had 12 points and pulled down 21 rebounds for UM-Presque Isle.

Collette Sloat chipped in 11 points for the Owls.

Kelly Young led Unity with 16 points and Loretta Fitzmauna added 14.

UM-Fort Kent wins two

The University of Maine-Fort Kent traveled down to the University of Maine-Machias to win its sixth straight conference game Saturday 58-38, then returned home Sunday and cruised past University of Maine-Augusta 76-54.

In Saturday’s game, Geneice Bassue led a balanced Bengal scoring attack with 13 points and Ashley Ames of dexter added 12 points, eight rebounds and seven blocked shots.

Dana Lemon notched 11 points and five steals and Nicole Corbin added 10 points and four steals for UMFK.

Fawn Cummings paced the Clippers with 16 points, nine rebounds and three steals.

In Sunday’s game, Corbin poured in 27 points, including seven 3-pointers, and dished out eight assists as the Bengals rolled to the win.

Ames tossed in 13 points, blocked seven shots and had four steals. Lemon recorded 11 points, six rebounds and five steals.

Aleigh Mills had 17 points, 10 rebounds and four assists for the Moose and Natalie Nimon added 16 points.
