Young buzzer-beater lifts MDI to win

BAR HARBOR – Ben Young converted a tip-in off a missed shot as time expired to lift Mount Desert Island past John Bapst of Bangor 51-49 in schoolboy basketball action Monday.

Wes Chapman paced the Trojans with 20 points and nine rebounds.

Ethan Cushman’s 16 points led John Bapst and John Burke added 13.

Ethan Chase tallied a goal and assist for the 3-11 Broncos while Curt Miller and Ian Lamberton added a goal apiece. Matt Albert saved 21 of 24 shots.

Scott Redman notched a goal and assist for the 7-7-11 Hornets. Tyler Robataille and Cody Violette added goals and Drew Bent two assists. Richard Thibeault had 33 saves on 37 shots.
