LEWISTON – Senior Eileen Flaherty set the Bowdoin College career scoring record and helped lead the Bowdoin College Polar Bears to a 58-50 women’s basketball win over the Bates College Bobcats Tuesday night.

Flaherty finished with 17 points and passed the previous career record held by Laura Schultz of 1,670 with a layup late in the first half. She also had 13 rebounds for Bowdoin.

Leah Rubega scored 15 points and the Polar Bears and Jill Anelauskas added 10 points.

Val Beckwith led Bates with 11 points and Sarah Barton added 10 rebounds and seven assists.

Elbie Murphy had 14 points and seven steals for the Monks Chad Pulkkinen and R.J. Mattison scored 14 points apiece.

Troy Gabriele led the Huskies with 11 points and Josh Daniels added 10 points.
