Smith scores 2 goals as Old Town stops Ponies Lewiston rallies in third, defeats Bangor 3-1

BANGOR – Jason Smith tallied two goals and two assists to lead the Old Town Coyotes to a 6-3 high school hockey win over the Foxcroft Academy Ponies Tuesday night at Sawyer Arena.

Josh Hesseltine and Tyler Van Dez added a goal apiece for the Coyotes. Jason Trask had 18 saves on 21 shots.

David White netted two goals and dished out an assist for the Ponies and Mike Winkler added a goal. Chad Phillips stopped 42 of 45 shots.

Lewiston 3, Bangor 1

At Lewiston, Jordan Bourgoin scored a pair of third-period goals as Lewiston rallied past Bangor in a Class A matchup.

Bangor’s Alex Mooers opened the scoring at 2:50 of the final period on an assist from Jon Hyatt.

Lewiston’s Robbie Leeman scored the tying goal before Bourgoin gave 5-8 Lewiston the lead on an assist from Casey Poussard.

Bourgoin added an empty-net goal assisted by goalie Alex Lafrenier, who made 23 saves on 24 shots.

Zach Hamilton stopped 27 of the 29 shots he faced for 8-5-1 Bangor.

JV: Lewiston 3-2
