Bangor Daily News High School Players of the Week

BOYS

Big School (Classes A-B)

CAM CORMIER

A senior on the Bangor indoor track team, Cormier broke the Eastern Maine Indoor Track League record in the 400-meter run for the second straight week, winning the event in 50.29 seconds during a meet at the University of Maine Field House. Cormier also won the 200 in 23.21 to help the Rams win the team competition.

Small School (Classes C-D)

JON PELLETIER

A junior on the Bucksport wrestling team, Pelletier earned his 100th career victory during the Golden Bucks’ final regular-season meet, then won the 140-pound individual title at last Saturday’s Penobscot Valley Conference championships to help Bucksport win the team title.

GIRLS

Big School (Classes A-B)

JESSICA HODSDON

Hodsdon, a sophomore on the Brewer girls swimming team, broke two school records in a meet against John Bapst Friday. Her time of 2 minutes, 17.49 seconds was enough for a new Brewer High mark in the 200-yard individual medley. She also recorded a school-record 1:08.71 in the 100 breaststroke.

Small School (Classes C-D)

MALLORY AMES

A 6-foot-6 senior center for the 13-1 Dexter girls basketball team, Ames posted game highs in scoring in three of the Tigers’ four wins in the past week. Ames averaged 25 points per game in wins over Piscataquis of Guilford, Fort Kent, Foxcroft Academy and Penquis of Milo.
