Coyotes upset Bangor girls for first win King, Prendergast give spark

BANGOR – Jenna King scored six of her team-high nine points in the fourth quarter as the Old Town Coyotes defeated the Bangor Rams 39-35 in schoolgirl basketball action at Barry Gym Friday night.

It was Old Town’s first win of the season.

Staci Prendergast netted seven points, all in the fourth quarter, for the Coyotes.

Amy Hackett scored 10 points for the Rams.

At Alfond Arena in Orono, Mark Cloutier scored the tie-breaking goal off of a Nathan Curtis assist with 4:45 left in regulation to lead Orono by Yarmouth.

Chris McConnno added an insurance goal with 13 seconds left for the 12-2-1 Red Riots. Sean Babin scored twice and Tony Raymond added a goal and an assist. Jordan Dudley provided two assists as Jared Bussell stopped 23 of 26 shots.

John Bubier scored a goal and had two assists for 3-11 Yarmouth. Keith Moulton and Nick Randall scored and Shane Perreault made 32 saves on 37 shots.

Hampden 6, Foxcroft 5

At Sawyer Arena, Bangor, D.J. Duplissis scored the winning goal off of an Ethan Chase assist with 3:24 left in regulation to lead Hampden Academy past Foxcroft Academy of Dover-Foxcroft.

Andrew Brown scored a goal and assisted another for the 4-12 Broncos. Chase, Troy Gaudet, Wesley Woods, and Tyler McGraw added goals. Josh Tardiff provided two assists as Matt Albert made 31 saves on 36 shots.

David White scored twice for the 0-12-1 Ponies. Mike Winkler had a goal and two assists and Nick Lovejoy added a goal and an assist. Zach Dever scored and Brad Bellemare had two assists. Chad Phillips stopped 46 of 52 shots.

At Lincoln, Derek Libbey scored 17 points as the Mattanawcook Academy Lynx earned their 12th victory.

Shey Gardner added 15 points and Brady Vose scored 13 for the Lynx.
