NEW YORK – Lauren Forgues, a University of Maine freshman from Boothbay, won a bronze medal in the one-mile racewalk at the Millrose Track and Field Games over the weekend.

Forgues stayed with the lead pack before fading in the last few laps. She finished fourth overall in 7 minutes, 15.37 seconds, but since third-place finisher Rachel Lavallee hails from Canada, Forgues was awarded the bronze medal. Loretta Schuellein took the win in 6:52.12.
