Religion in brief WEST BROOKSVILLE: NEW PASTOR

Allen C. Myers of Deer Isle has been called to serve as pastor of West Brooksville Congregational Church. Born in New Jersey, Myers, 63, grew up in South Bristol, Maine, and worked in the family seafood business. Teaching, ministry, music and the sea have been the major threads of his life. A 2004 graduate of Bangor Theological Seminary, Myers succeeds the Rev. Harald A. Smedal of Brooksville, who retired after serving the congregation for 30 years. The new minister is in the process of seeking ordination. Myers’ wife is the Rev. Alice Hildebrand, pastor of First Congregational Church of Deer Isle and the Sunset Congregational Church. The couple has three grown children.
