PARIS – A former substitute teacher from Center Lovell has been indicted in what Oxford County police described as the biggest child porn case they had investigated.
Police seized five computers from the home of Gilbert Telford, and the Maine Computer Crimes Task Force recovered tens of thousands of pornographic photos and more than 300 digital movies, said Sgt. Matt Baker of the Oxford County Sheriff’s Department. Some of them featured children under 12, Baker said.
The indictment was handed up Thursday in Oxford County Superior Court. Telford, 68, is charged with felony possession of sexually explicit materials.
SAD 72 Superintendent Gary MacDonald said Telford was removed from the substitute teaching list after his Oct. 23 arrest. Telford remains free on $2,500 bail with a stipulation that he have no contact with children under 18.
