Brewer features scoring balance in win over ‘Cats

PRESQUE ISLE – Dave Perry scored two goals and assisted three others as the Brewer Witches rolled to a 10-3 high school hockey win Saturday over the Presque Isle Wildcats.

Brewer’s Reid McLaughlin chipped in with a goal and two assists. Dylan Fitzpatrick added two goals and an assist while Prentiss Swett scored a goal and provided three assists.

Mike Kotredes, Nick Risser, and Jim Nicknair each contributed a goal for the Witches and John Ambrose had three assists. Aaron Saunders stopped 23 of 26 shots.

Dylan Collins scored twice for the Wildcats. Brandon Daigle scored and Ben McPherson provided two assists. Ethan Hill made 44 saves on 54 shots.

Hoult.-Hodgdon 4, John Bapst 0

At Sawyer Arena in Bangor, Levi Ledger recorded 18 saves as Houlton-Hodgdon earned the shutout.

Jordan Gard and Josh McGuire each scored a goal and had an assist for the 10-7 Blackhawks. Sharif Abouleish and Chris McGuire each chipped in with a goal while Eben Thompson, Sam Carter, Taylor Martin, and Zach Chase provided assists.

Derek Duff made 17 saves on 21 shots for the 12-6 Crusaders of Bangor.

Bangor 6, Edward Little 3

At Sawyer Arena in Bangor, Christian Dionne and Johnny Warren both scored two goals and provided one assist each to power the Rams past the Red Eddies of Auburn.

Matt Boehmer and Jon Hyatt each had a goal and an assist for 9-7-1 Bangor. Nick George provided two assists and Jake Silver and Joel Whitney had an assist. Andrew Riley stopped 20 of 23 shots.

Shawn Hird scored two goals and assisted the other for 7-10 Edward Little. Billy Brewster had a goal and an assist. Adam Loudermilk made 23 saves on 29 shots.

JV: Bangor 3-0

Foxcroft 6, Hampden 4

At T.J. Ryan Center in Brewer, Nick Lovejoy recorded two goals and an assist to help the Ponies pick up their first win of the season.

Chase Hutchinson had a goal and two assists for Hampden, now 1-13-1, and Brad Bellemare added a goal and an assist. David White and Henry Obrey each added a goal and Chad Phillips stopped 25 of 29 shots.

Troy Gaudet and Ethan Chase scored two goals apiece for 4-14 Hampden. Blake Stevens, Nate Rocker, and Tim Henderson provided assists. Matt Albert made 24 saves on 30 shots.

Boys basketball

Wiscasset 60, Georges Valley 57

At Thomaston, Matt McRae scored 31 points to lead Wiscasset to victory over Georges Valley.

Nate Frisbee scored 33 points to pace the Buccaneers.

At Auburn, the Red Eddies went on a 9-0 run at the end of the game to hold off the Rams in the KVAC Class A title game.

Troy Barnies paced Edward Little with 20 points and Kyle Philbrook added 15, including a key 3-pointer to tie the game late.

Alex Gallant and Ryan Weston each scored 16 points for Bangor.

Maranacook 76, Camden Hills 68

At Colby College in Waterville, Ryan Martin poured in 36 points as the Black Bears of Readfield earned the KVAC Class B title.

Maranacook’s Kevin Leary chipped in with 14 points. The Bears hit 24 of their 29 free-throw attempts.

Gordon Fischer paced the Windjammers with 20 points while Paul Draper added 14 and Christian Pieri scored 11.

Girls basketball

Waterville 62, Camden Hills 33

At Colby College in Waterville, Elizabeth Bell scored 21 of her game-high 22 points in the first half as the Purple Panthers rolled to the KVAC Class B girls title.

Stephanie Whitten added 10 for Waterville, which led 36-20 at halftime.

Allie Parent paced the Windjammers with 13 points and Kayla Gushee scored nine.
